The Museo Marítimo de Barcelona and the monument to Colón will be the first discovering of our route, exactly the same as did Christopher Columbus with America, to continue around the Barrio Gótico.
Surrounding the Barcelona’s most ancestral neighborhood we’ll go till the Born, full of cobbled and meandering streets, it’s the ideal place to get lost in its first-level museums, as Museo Picasso, or enjoy its countless tapas bars.
Now, we will go to the green lung of the city, the Parc de la Ciutadella, the largest urban park in the interior of the city and former military fortress, it is currently run by artists of all kinds and contains in its interior several points of interest, such as the Grand Cascade, the Parlament de Catalunya and the Castell dels Tres Dragons.
The Parc de la Ciutadella also hosted the celebration of the Universal Exposition of 1888, for this reason it was built the famous Arc de Triomf, one of the most photographed monuments of the city, which was the entrance to this exhibition.
The next part of the Tour transports us to the seafront.
In 1992, Barcelona was commissioned to organize the first Olympic Games in Spain and a series of urban projects were carried out to prepare the city for an event of this magnitude. For this, different structures were created around the city such as the Olympic Village and the Olympic Port. At this point, we will show you all the renewal of Barcelona’s coastline and how meters were gained to the sea to build the different beaches that makeup Barcelona today.
Surrounded by mooring boats, endless beaches and the scent of sunscreen, we’ll visit the so-called “European California” near the characteristic neighborhood of Barceloneta.
Back to our starting point, we will visit Port Vell, the oldest port in Barcelona and one of the largest yachts marina of the Mediterranean. Just in front, we will find the Palau de Mar, the old general stores of commerce of the city, a space that is currently converted into the History Museum of Catalonia.
With the Mediterranean breeze and the sound of the cruise ships leaving the city, we will finish our 2h Classic Segway Tour as authentic local experts from Barcelona!
